A complete autonomous system incorporates an autonomous driver deployed on a platform designed and built to perform the targeted functionality. In the world of autonomous vehicles, the robustness of the platform upon which the virtual driver is deployed is critical to ensure safe, robust and high performance deployments
To that end, the platform architecture plays a key role in enabling functionality to ensure tight integration between the autonomous driver and the driving platform. The architecture has far reaching impacts from supporting performance capability under the ODD in which the system is deployed to ensuring a high confidence in safe operation and safe deployment of these systems. This presentation outlines key criteria that need to be considered and a framework to ensure critical safety features are incorporated while providing for high nominal performance.
