In order for autonomous passenger transport vehicles such as robotaxis to coexist with human drivers on highways, adequate reaction times are required for safe operation and planning. Hardware-centric lidars offer passive performance for redundancy but have inherent limitations and don’t optimize data to reduce the perception systems’ reaction times based on operational domains. In this presentation, Mrinal Sood, Director of Technical Marketing for AEye, Inc., will discuss how AEye’s adaptive, high-performance, software-configurable lidar optimizes its output to improve perception when milliseconds count.
Mrinal has a decade of automotive design, manufacturing and go-to-market experience. Prior to AEye, he led technical sales and marketing at Innoviz and Sense Photonics, where he created their go-to-market strategy for lidar and led expansion across automotive, smart cities, and off-highway markets. Prior to that, Mrinal designed and validated powertrain & telematics products for passenger vehicles at Continental Automotive. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois in Chicago.
